There are several different grant programs run by the US government which approve thousands of grants to its citizens every year. Examples of these programs include women grants, minority grants and free grants. To receive these grants the people must apply for the grants through grant proposals.
Women’s grants are awarded to those women who are in need of financial assistance for a variety of reasons. For example a widow who wants to start a business may need capital and this may not be available to her. In this case the government may provide her with money to invest in the project. Also those women who are undergoing parenthood and cannot work for several months due to this reason may receive financial assistance in the form of women grants.
Minority grants are awarded to those people who may be under–represented in their community and thus face problems when competing with individuals of majority communities. These can be Hispanic students who may face problems in their public schools and may not get enough opportunities as the students of the majority community. Some minority business owners can also apply for grants if they want to start a business that helps their community and they are not sure that the income from services will be able to cover the costs.
Free grants include those cash incentives that governments give out to regular people for specific uses. For example people are given free grants for the rebuilding of homes after natural disasters like hurricanes and earthquakes. Also, after a recession those people with severely bad credit ratings can apply to the government for assistance in the form of grants to avoid falling into problems of insolvable indebtedness. By these grants the government ensures that the needs of the people are fulfilled and their problems are reduced.
