Although higher education is important, there are often a number of obstacles that can hinder potential students from enrolling in college. Family obligations and financial concerns are often at the top of this list, especially when it relates to single mothers. Obama grants meant to encourage mothers to return to college to earn a degree attempt to ease some of the concerns associated with going to college. In a number of cases, the purpose of federal grants is to help disadvantaged groups to attend college. A commonly given endowment for low-income students is the federal Pell grant. As the Obama administration has stated that it places a high priority on education, the benefits of Pell grants have been augmented in order to be a greater help to potential students. Working moms are especially encouraged to apply for the Scholarships for Moms program, which is just a title given to a portion of the standard Pell grant program. By equipping low-income mothers to earn a degree, the administration believes that this will provide a stimulus to the lagging economy, and be a great benefit to the families of those mothers, by increasing their earning power in the work force. $5,000 from a Pell grant may not seem like a lot of money, when you look at the high cost of education these days, but it should help defray the other expenses associated with going to college.

As well as books and supplies, a student has additional expenses of housing and travel as well. Childcare costs for a single mom, may also be included in these miscellaneous expenses. A great characteristic of the Pell grant award is that the money awarded does not necessarily have to be applied to college tuition. Any expense that can be seen to be necessary to obtaining an education, can be covered by the grant money. It must be remembered that this program is not specifically catering to traditional students; it provides opportunity for traditional and non-traditional students alike. Just as welcome as a student who is fresh out of high school, are mothers who want to return to college to earn a degree. Consideration is given equally to mothers who would like to stay home and take care of their children while doing online courses, to potential students who would prefer to go to a small community college. The most important thing is that all willing students are able to earn a degree that will provide them with significant opportunity in the job market. An effort by the current administration to show that education truly is the key to a bright future are by offering Obama grants. With the allocation of a significant amount of money to pay for education, everyone from young adults to working mothers has a chance to go to college.

Barack Obama’s administration has a new campaign that encourages moms to go back to school. The US government is now offering scholarship grants to mothers who wish to complete their education and earn a degree. Many moms may not be aware of this new policy so now is the best time to learn more about this program and take advantage of it. Although the economy may be suffering from a recession at the moment, this is no reason to postpone going back to school and completing your education. If you are a mom, you should know that this is the best time to earn a degree so that when the job market bounces back, then you will be fully equipped to take on a new career and use your degree. Here are some of the policies introduced under Obama’s term that encourages mothers to go back to school and pursue higher education: Federal Pell Grants The Federal Pell Grant Program provides grants to low-income undergraduate and postgraduate students. It aims to promote access to higher education for everybody. Students can use this grant on more than 5,400 participating postsecondary institutions. In one of Obama’s first bills, the Federal Pell Grant was increased from $4050 to $5100; this is a great opportunity to not miss for single mothers who wish to get a baccalaureate or post baccalaureate degree. In order to apply for this grant, you first choose a degree then an institution that offers it. Once you are all set then you need to fill out and submit a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).

With the new simplified process, FAFSA can now be completed and submitted online, this is very helpful for busy working moms who can now apply for grants while at the comforts of their home. Tax Benefits The American Opportunity Tax Credit is a tax benefit that is part of the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 under Obama’s administration. According to it, Moms can credit their tuition and other school related expenses against their total tax liability. Up to 40% of the credit is refundable so mothers can really benefit from the savings. Online Study Grants Aside from the grants and tax benefits mentioned above that moms can use to support their education, there are also several scholarship grants available online. Studying online has become a trend these days especially for single moms or busy working mothers who have no time or have limited resources to leave their children to baby sitters while they go out and attend school elsewhere. This is why earning your degree through distance education and online programs are highly recommended. There are scholarships and grants made just for moms wishing to complete their degree that offer a lot more than the Federal Pell Grants. These financial aids are accessible online through several websites and search engines

There is hot news for the ones aiming for a college career; but could not do it because of economical hazards. Government grants will provide the opportunity. Students can obtain college grants which provide money to compensate for tuition and other expenses during college career. In the economic climate of today, a college degree is worth shooting for and the college grant gives you the right chance if you cannot afford it on your own.

Federal College Grants are offered up to those who are needy. Yet it is different based upon the area of study and level of academic excellence. Deprived scholars who can never aspire of going after academic classes are benefitted by the college grants. These are given on a semester or annual basis. In some instances, the scholarship extended to the pupils is not needed to be returned back like the Pell Grant Program which is a federal college grant. There are some terms to be satisfied before this grant is accredited. Each applier must be a US citizen, have a GED or high school diploma and must be able to win over their need for financial help.

The federal government has evolved a measure to estimate the eligibility of a student to draw the profits of a college grant. The financial condition is looked at. These factors are- properties and income of the pupil if individual, similar data for parents for dependent educatee – family size and number of members of the family entered for post-secondary institutions. These elements being widely various, the amount of grant varies depending on the actual need in personal cases. To get an idea of the scale of college grant, it may be stated that in the 2009-2010 school academic year, the maximum scholarship to be granted is $5,350.

The federal government has evolved a new grant called ACG or Academic Competitiveness Grant in 2006. It is awarded to the primary 2 years of post secondary study. It is awarded to such students who have adopted an difficult work load of studies in their final year at the school. This college grant is of the order of $750 for the first study year and $1,300 for the second year.

Minorities grant is granted to the students in USA. Among the other grants are the Los Padres Foundation, United Negro College fund.etc. College scholarships are also available for women.

Despite the fact that higher education is important, there are often a number of obstacles that can hinder potential students from enrolling in college. Family obligations and financial concerns are often at the top of this list, especially when it relates to single mothers. In an attempt to ease some of the concerns associated with going to college, Obama grants are intended to encourage mothers to return to college to earn a degree. In a number of cases, the purpose of federal grants is to help disadvantaged groups to attend college. The federal Pell grant is an endowment commonly given to low-income students. As the Obama administration has stated that it places a high priority on education, the benefits of Pell grants have been augmented in order to be a greater help to potential students. Working moms especially are encouraged to apply for the Scholarships for Moms program, which is just a title given to a portion of the standard Pell grant program. The administration believes that equipping low-income mothers to earn a degree will provide a stimulus to the lagging economy and be a great benefit to families of those mothers by increasing their earning power in the work force. With the high cost of education these days, $5,000 from a Pell grant may not seem like a lot of money but consider the other expenses associated with going to college. A student has to pay for books and supplies, housing and travel expenses as well. For a single mom, other miscellaneous expenses may also include childcare. One great advantage of the Pell grant award is that the money awarded does not necessarily have to be applied to college tuition. Any expense that can be seen to be necessary to obtaining an education, can be covered by the grant money. It must be remembered that this program is not specifically catering to traditional students; it provides opportunity for traditional and non-traditional students alike. If a mother wants to return to college to earn a degree, she will be just as welcome as a student who is fresh out of high school. Equal consideration is given to potential students who would prefer to go to a small community college as well as mothers who would like to stay home and take care of their children while taking online courses. The most important thing is that all willing students are able to earn a degree that will provide them with significant opportunity in the job market. Obama grants are the current administration’s way to show that education truly is the key to a bright future. By allocating a significant amount of money to pay for education, everyone from young adults to working mothers has a chance to go to college.

No doubt higher education is important, but there are often a number of obstacles that can hinder potential students from enrolling in college. Family obligations and financial concerns are often at the top of this list, especially for single mothers. Obama grants meant to encourage mothers to return to college to earn a degree attempt to ease some of the concerns associated with going to college. The purpose of federal grants can be seen in many cases to help disadvantaged groups to attend college. One endowment often given to low-income students is the federal Pell grant. The benefits of Pell grants have been improved in order to be a greater help to potential students, since the Obama administration has stated that it places a high priority on education. A title given to a portion of the standard Pell grant program is the Scholarships for Moms program. Working moms are especially encouraged to apply for this. The administration believes that equipping low-income mothers to earn a degree will provide a stimulus to the lagging economy and be a great benefit to families of those mothers by increasing their earning power in the work force. Although $5,000 from a Pell grant may not seem like a lot of money, when you consider the high cost of education these days, it should help defray the other expenses associated with going to college. As well as books and supplies, a student has additional expenses of housing and travel as well. For a single mom, these miscellaneous expenses may also include childcare. One great advantage of the Pell grant award is that the money awarded does not necessarily have to be applied to college tuition. Providing the expense is vital to obtaining an education, it can be covered by the grant money. Finally, consider that this program doesnÃ?t cater specifically to traditional students; it provides opportunity for traditional and non-traditional students alike. Just as welcome as a student who is fresh out of high school, are mothers who want to return to college to earn a degree. Consideration is given equally to potential students who would prefer to go to a small community college as well as mothers who would like to stay home and take care of their children while taking online courses. The most important factor is that all willing students are able to earn a degree that will provide them with significant opportunity in the job market. Obama grants are the current administration’s way to show that education truly is the key to a bright future. Everyone from young adults to working mothers has a chance to go to college, by the allocation of a significant amount of money to pay for education.
