I know what you’re thinking and I totally agree with you, there has already been a ton of articles written on this one topic. Here is the reality of grants, the tougher it gets to get a traditional loan form a stiff neck bank, the more appealing business grants become. I have to ask this one question, is there really such a thing as a Business Grant?

I can remember in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina many business affected by the storm in South Louisiana was able to receive a Disaster Grant of the Louisiana State Treasury , but this particular type of grant was time stamped and for the sole purpose of storm damaged business. I can also recall rumors of certain types of minority business grants, with a focus on encouraging entrepreneurship in minority woman. Notice I referred to these types of grants as “Rumor Grants”, because as an African American I have yet to meet another African American who has actually received one of these Grants.

Now don’t get me wrong I am not saying that you can’t receive a minority grant for the purpose that the grant was established, but it’s not as easy as many of the commercials have marketed it to be. If you suffer from insomnia like I do and find yourself up at night then you know all too well that you can get bombarded with Infomercials about how easy it is to get a grant.

There use to be this guy jumping around on television with question marks on his suit raving about all of the money you can get for many different reasons. I have to admit that he even had me going until I had the opportunity to speak with Tanya R.
